Australian Red Wine
Last modified: October 13, 2010According to Wikipedia “The Australian wine industry is the fourth-largest exporter in the world,[1] exporting 760 million litres a year to a large international export market that includes “old world” wine-producing countries such as France, Italy and Spain.” The primary wine regions of Australia are known as South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, and Western Australia wine regions. About half of the wine comes from the South Australian wine region.
Mail Order Wine On Line is proud to offer the following Australian Red Wine below:

Yalumba 2006 Barossa Shiraz + Viognier – Syrah/Shiraz Red Wine
Red Wine by Yalumba from Barossa Valley, Australia. This wine is deep purpley red in color, displaying an aroma of sweet fragrant plums and bright red-berried fruits along with a fine cedar tone and just the subtle floral notes of Viognier. A medium to full bodied wine, showing red fruits, fine spices, cloves and peppers. The 2006 is rich, but not an overpowering Shiraz with the subtle sweet textures of Viognier. Great now, but will also reward 5-7 years in the cellar. Match with butterfly pork chops with creamy mash potatoes.

Innocent Bystander 2007 Shiraz Viognier – Syrah/Shiraz Red Wine
Red Wine by Innocent Bystander from South Australia, Australia. Not your blockbuster warm-climate Aussie Shiraz, this is a more elegant example reminiscent of violets, pink peppercorns, nutmeg and caramelized quince and mulberries. The palate is likewise restrained, offering fruit compote with slightly meaty undertones.

R Wines 2007 Boarding Pass First Class Shiraz – Syrah/Shiraz Red Wine
Red Wine by R Wines from South Australia, Australia. Deep dark red with purple hues. Chocolate, mocha and ribenia notes evident on the nose. The warm and spicy palate carries chocolate and mocha flavors, followed by fresh berries. The 18 months in French and American oak has softened the wine providing a nice balance of fruit and oak.

Greg Norman Estates 2006 Limestone Coast Shiraz – Syrah/Shiraz Red Wine
Red Wine by Greg Norman Estates from Australia. Greg Norman Estates Limestone Coast Shiraz is deep, dark red with purple hues. Intense, lifted aromas of ripe, dark plum, blackberry, sweet vanillin and spice with light subtle hints of blueberry and blackcurrant fruit, all portend to a generous palate that is full flavored, balanced and long. The palate, though big and opulent, has an elegant, smooth texture, some mocha and cedar oak character combined with ripe, dark berry fruit and fine tannins. The mid palate’s ripe berry flavors will, with time, reveal more complex characters such as dark chocolate, licorice, wood smoke and warm leather, as the wine ages and evolves. A full bodied, rich, rewarding Shiraz that expresses the warmth of the Australian vintage and the riper flavors, obtainable from the renowned Limestone Coast regions – a wine both generous and harmonious.

Mollydooker 2009 Gigglepot Cabernet Sauvignon – Red Wine
Red Wine by Mollydooker from South Australia, Australia. This elegant Cabernet displays beautiful concentrated aromas and flavors with a refined structure that will linger in your mouth and delight you. The Gigglepot on the label is Sarah and Sparky’s daughter Holly, who couldn’t stop laughing about how she looked with these crazy black glasses on! The grapes were grown on the Belladarren vineyard in Langhorne Creek and the Prime vineyard in McLaren Vale. Pairs with venison, BBQ spare ribs, blue cheese and roast lamb.

Oxford Landing 2008 GSM – Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre – Rhone Blends Red Wine
Red Wine by Oxford Landing from South Australia, Australia. Bright plum with magenta hues, the 2008 Oxford Landing GSM has lifted forest berry fruits with hints of liquorice and spice. Plum and dark fruit from the Shiraz are complemented by the raspberries, red cherries and spice from the Grenache, creating a rich compote of flavors on the palate. These flavors are balanced on the palate by the chalky Mourvedre tannins that provide a slightly savory finish that lingers long after the wine is consumed.
