critical acclaim:
“The 2006 was made from 32% Bancroft Ranch, 24% Steinhauer Ranch, 19% St. Helena Home Vineyard, with smaller amounts from Rancho del Oso, Chabot Vineyard, Marston Ranch and Lampyridae. A big heat wave in July was the salient weather factor in this vintage. The harvest began early and continued for five weeks. Abundant smoke, chocolate, espresso roast, cassis and mocha characteristics are found in this full-bodied, powerful, layered Cabernet. Although not quite as seamless as the nearly perfect 2005 Private Reserve, it is a big, dense beauty from a somewhat forgotten Napa Valley vintage. Give it 3-4 years of cellaring and drink it over the following two decades or more. 93+ points. ”

Bonterra 2005 Organically Grown Cabernet Sauvignon – Red Wine

Bonterra 2005 Organically Grown Cabernet Sauvignon – Red Wine
Syrah continues in this vintage as Bonterra’s unconventional blending grape for Cabernet Sauvignon, giving intriguing elements of spice and deep rich flavors sometimes not so attainable from the more traditional Merlot or Petite Sirah. Over the past seven years Bonterra has been privileged to work with Christian LeSommer, formerly of Chateau LaTour, to refine away the rough edges of their Cabernet to allow an elegant, near Old World styled wine to emerge.
This Cabernet offers New World aromas of Bing cherry, currants and raspberry, with spicy notes of cedar and dried cranberry, with slight vanilla notes (French Vanilla, of course). In the glass you’ll find juicy red berry flavors, and a very approachable, rich and full mouthfeel with a lingering, thoughtful finish. Good structure, polished yet soft tannins promise an ever more pleasing wine to come, with lively acidity and subtle spice.
This rich and flavorful wine will be a surprisingly good match with a broad array of dishes that reach far beyond Cabernet’s traditional pairing with roast meats.
Barnett 2007 Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon – Red Wine

Barnett 2007 Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon – Red Wine
Rich purple in its youth, the wines nose is full of fresh blackberries and ripe pomegranate. There are also aromatics of black pepper, mint and crushed flowers. The weight of the wine is very lush with ripe cassis and fennel on the mid-pallet. The tannins are chalky and well rounded with some bright mountain acidity to complement them. The finish is long and of creamed coffee. This year the wine is much more approachable in its youth, but the wine will age gracefully over the next 8-10 years (2009-2017).
