Murphy-Goode 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon – Red Wine Our Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot, 3% Merlot and 1% Malbec. The Cabernet Sauvignon fruit is anchored by one of our most prestigious vineyards, Val Peline’s Terra A Lago. Terra A Lago’s meticulously farmed vineyard is in the foothills of the Alexander Valley at the base of the Mayacamas Mountain range and contributes massive tannins and dark fruit. The addition of Petit Verdot gives this wine its depth, Merlot adds sweetness and Malbec contributes a hint of soft blueberry fruit. It’s a wine that packs a punch, exhibiting flavors of blackberry, black cherry, bay and thyme with an oak profile of vanilla and toasted nuts. Its soft, rich tannins make it a very approachable wine that is ready to drink now but equally suitable for hanging onto for years.
